Gold Prices in Pakistan Tumble After Historic Peak
Gold prices in Pakistan experienced a sharp decline on Wednesday, dropping by Rs11,700 per tola after hitting record highs in recent weeks. On Tuesday, gold was priced at Rs352,000 per tola in local markets. Additionally, 10 grams of gold decreased by Rs10,031, bringing the price to Rs301,783.
Gold prices in international markets also declined on Wednesday, falling by $116 per ounce to settle at $3,338.. This steep decline comes after a period of record-high prices, with gold surpassing Rs70,000 per tola in just one month.
Experts suggest that the volatility in the markets is due to global geo-economic instability. Rising trade tensions between the US and China, along with US President Trump’s criticism of Jerome Powell, head of the Federal Reserve, have significantly impacted market trends. ----
In other news, the Punjab Assembly has passed the "Punjab Thalassemia Prevention Act 2025," which makes thalassemia testing mandatory for students during the admission process in educational institutions.
